A window into their lives:-

A window into their lives:-

We are invited yet not wanted
Welcomed yet feared
Needed but resented
Our visits are unprepared for
Our presence demanded in desperation

Unshaven legs, dirty laundry
Dishes left out, bodies unwashed
Excuses made, apologies and explanations
It's all irrelevant

What happened here?
What's your story?

Tears and despair,
The true face of fear
worlds turned upside down
Lovers torn apart
Families strewn to the winds

Doors slam shut and fingers are crossed
Throats choke with lumps
Lips are stiffened
Everybody waits....,,,

  1. Yep, that about sums up the window into my life. You capture the essence of an outsider looking in so well here, I felt I was right there, peeking into someone else's life and the trials and tribulations of our daily existence.

  2. Pretty intense, this view, these images of life marred with loss or sadness or anger or abuse, or any and all of the above. Some windows don't need to be viewed into, but rather escaped out of. You've left some food for thought in this one.

  3. A view of humanity not unlike Hobbes in Leviathan only yours was stated in poetics rather than political philosophy:
    "
In such condition, there is no place for industry; because the fruit thereof is uncertain: and consequently no culture of the earth; no navigation, nor use of the commodities that may be imported by sea; no commodious building; no instruments of moving, and removing, such things as require much force; no knowledge of the face of the earth; no account of time; no arts; no letters; no society; and which is worst of all, continual fear, and danger of violent death; and the life of man, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish, and short."

    — "Chapter XIII.: Of the Natural Condition of Mankind As Concerning Their Felicity, and Misery." , Leviathan

  4. My work leads me through these windows way too often. We are all so flawed when we don't have time to put our public face on.
However I probably should write one about the amazing positives of people too - I will soon.
    Thanks for your comments

  5. One can only hope that sometimes those on the inside may see the open window as a way out...not often enough, I know. Powerful writing.

  6. Sad to witness...hard to live it.

  7. Wow... each line is a poem in itself... I could spend hours going deeper into each one... and yet they weave together, they mesh, they seem they could not stand on their own, they're needed for the entire story... and yet each line is a poem in itself.
